Our first local Community Workshop, "What for Watford".
On Saturday 16th June 2007, two weeks after the Bank Holiday Celebration
Event at the Watford Colosseum, another rainy day did not stop a group
of enthusiastic local participants from attending a "What for Watford?"
Community Workshop at the Holywell Community Centre.

Workshop Objectives
1. To sustain and enhance the community spirit generated by Celebration
2007.
2. To encourage mutual understanding, valuing and enrichment in our
community.
3. To help unite all sections of our community behind a shared programme
of positive change.
4. To plan the preparation of some multicultural artistic input to
the next Celebration event.
Imagination
Inspired by the brilliant time they’d had at Celebration
2007, this group of people of all different ages - most of whom
had never met - shared their creativity, varied life experiences
and perspectives to come up with a selection of great ideas to
improve life in Watford.

Innovation
The event was facilitated by Greg Peachey who divided everyone
into teams to focus on “Arts”, “Practical”
and “Belief Systems”. The ideas were carefully captured,
recorded and shared in feedback sessions where some lively debate
ensued. But with such good will and enthusiasm, consensus was
achieved on a number of really solid suggestions which you can
view and rate on our ideas website:

Inspiration
Everyone learned a lot from working side by side with new people
and the variety of ideas was impressive. As a reward for their
efforts, the participants were treated to a delicious buffet meal
from the Chinese Association and live music from the Inspiral
Arts team. New friends were made and connections forged for the
future.
